ABOUT:
INSIDE THE CUBE project is about what it feels like to have a mental illness, showing possible separate animations to create a whole little film that shows our characters in a surreal world with abstract visuals.
These are made to (hopefully) help people recognize what they might have and have a better understanding of themselves, but as well to show others what their loved ones might be going through.
It is something to show, that these 'invisible' illnesses are real, not to be ignored, break the stigma, and break the taboo.
For the Masters, I am heavily concentrated on DEPRESSION, and with ANXIETY is a smaller side that is worked on.
How is it made?
I draw out two frames of a still-animation for the characters, sometimes more when it's needed for better effect (like a rough cell-animation on occasions).
Objects are drawn for more abstract visuals and animations, they form a lot of shapes as well as scribbles of crazy lines to better showcase the feeling, such as panic, irritation, anguish, heaviness, floatiness, etc...
Backgrounds are drawn simply, they mustn't need much detail, but they also provide nice texture to make the scenes look illustrative and pleasing to the eye.
As you can see, they all start in black and white or grey-scale, I add the colors later on in Adobe After Effects, as well combine all the materials together to form the desired effects and animated scenes.
